Healing Light Spiritualist Church
June News Letter

News!, News!, News!

June already, how can that be?

Time always amazes me. I don't know about you but I am having a harder time remembering what day, week and month it is because the days go by so quickly!

To recap May:

On May 16th we had our Medium's Day fund raiser at camp Etna. It was a wonderful success! We are pleased to announce that we raised $455.00 for the church. I want to thank everyone who contributed their time, talents and efforts to the event. Without you there would have been no Medium's Day.

May 17th was a historic day for our church. On that day our first Healing Certification students received their certificates. We appreciate so much enthusiasm for this program. Hats off to the students and to Pastor Laurie for a job well done!

Also, on May 17th, another historic event occurred. The church membership voted to move the church from the town hall to the temple on the Camp Etna grounds.

We realize there is a lot of fear around this move for some folks. One thing to remember is fear stops progress. It is always helpful when we find ourselves in a space of fear to turn our focus to the positive.

We want to assure everyone that we, the church board and the pastoral council, are crossing our "t's" and dotting our "i's" where the contract is concerned. The camp board states openly that the contract we will have between the camp and the church is for the protection of the church not the camp.

I am going to restate just three of the positive aspects of moving the church from the town hall to the temple on the camp ground.

1) This move will put us in a building and on grounds that is steeped in the history of Spiritualism. This supports our religion and I believe will help "grow" it. It also supports the camp.

2) As Wachian pointed out, we are both spiritualist organizations. We are living in times when it is important to join forces to help each other. As spiritualist organizations it shows that we are aligned with the same purpose and belief system.

3) Please keep in mind the energetic principle of "sacred space." The temple is "sacred space", the town hall is not. As I am certain everyone knows about energy this concept needs no explanation. We feel it is a good thing to start holding services in a sacred space.

The temple is having renovations done to it so it will enable us to use it year round. The mold will be re-mediated, foam insulation will be installed under the floor, air leaks will be plugged, a heating and air conditioning system is being installed as well as a handicap ramp and gravel is being laid down on the parking area. The rear exit steps are also being replaced and we have some nice, comfortable new chairs for folks who find the pews uncomfortable. The parking area will be plowed every time the camp roads are plowed. Yes, the church will have to shovel the ramp and steps and lay ice melt and grit. We do not see this as a big problem.

We expect that at least some of the renovations will be completed by start of camp season which is June 28th.. Our contract with the town of Etna runs until the end of June. Our contract with Camp Etna will begin July 1st. This means our first service in the Temple will be on July 5th. We will gradually be moving the church belongings to the temple. Everything will be moved in by July 5th.

I hope you can come to church on July 5th and make our first day in our new home something to celebrate!

Kudos!

A BIG THANK YOU Pastor Laurie for teaching the Healing Certification classes, GREAT JOB, LAURIE!

A BIG THANK YOU, to everyone who helped out on our Mediums Day fund raiser. We want to thank Kendra Wescott for organizing the event. Many thanks to Marcia Ruland, Dee Powers and Rosy D'elia for opening the cafe and cleaning it up so beautifully, it was quite a mess and needed a ton of cleaning! Thanks to those who brought the food. It was YUMMY! We thank the mediums and healers, Wachian, Dee, Rosy, Angie, Bethany, and me. We thank our healers, Don, Lauren, Bambi and Kendra. And, we thank Donna for doing the registration. If I missed anyone I do so apologize. I am trying very hard not to do that as everyone who serves deserves to be recognized.

We again thank Pastor Dee for delivering clothing and supplies to the Waterville Homeless Shelter and to Canaan Fire and Rescue.

I want to thank the Camp Etna board for being so willing to do whatever it takes to bring the church to the Camp Etna Temple. I have to tell you, the positive force behind this move is palpable! So, Camp Etna board, THANK YOU!
