So here we are in September. Warm days, cool nights, Ahhhhh Maine, "The way life should be."
Now that summer is winding down, the Healing Light Spiritualist Church will be getting back to our normal routine. For those who don't know, in August the pastors facilitate the church services for the camp. The camp has a slightly altered order of service. September through July the church services are fully ours.
I am happy to report that the new air conditioning system works beautifully and it is soooo quiet! We have been cool and comfortable all summer long during church and we are grateful for this blessing.
Now that the church has a permanent home we want to keep both our church and the camp in the forefront of everyone's mind by offering classes, workshops and Gallery Readings throughout the fall, winter, and spring. If there is something you would like to present please let us know. We will give it every consideration.
The church members meeting is in October and we are in need of board members. We need a president, vice president, treasurer, secretary and one trustee. If you are willing to serve our church in this way it would be greatly appreciated. If you are currently serving in one of these positions and are willing to serve again we thank you with all our hearts. You can see Pastor Dee Powers if you would like to be of service.
It is important I make everyone aware that without a board our church cannot continue. We are a 501c3 which requires a board. These days everyone is so busy that they are reluctant to take on one more duty. Trust me, I do understand. Please know that being on the board of the HLSC is a very easy job, truly. Very little time and effort is necessary. We have only one board meeting a year and that is held in October. Throughout the year there are very few things that need the boards attention and these things can be taken care of via phone or email. Thank you for considering being of service in this way.
We still need a pianist for our Sunday services. Does anyone know a piano student who would like a part time job? This is a paid position so if you know someone who may be interested please refer them to to one of the pastors.
We are in the process of scheduling speakers and mediums for November through June. If you would like to serve in either, or both, of these capacity's please see one of the pastors. Thank you!
Healing Certification Classes
Pastor Laurie Xanthos is teaching the Healing Certification classes again in September for those who are interested in learning how to be a channel for Spiritual Healing. It is an excellent class and is offered by donation. Classes will be held on September 20th and 27th, 12:30 to 3:00 PM and will be held in the Temple. Both classes are necessary in order to receive your certification. Please contact Laurie if you would like to take this class so she knows how many handouts to print. Her contact information is at the end of this newsletter
Autumn Equinox Ceremony
On September 20th I will lead an Equinox Ceremony to celebrate our sacred planet and the change of seasons. I lead four ceremonies a year to honor the earth and her changing seasons. The entire service remains the same except that at these particular services the inspirational talk is replaced with a ceremony. The ceremonies are uplifting, engaging and empowering. If you have not had the opportunity to attend one of these ceremonies please consider coming on September 20th as we welcome autumn and give thanks for the harvest which will see us through the winter. All are welcome!

A BIG THANK YOU to the many speakers and mediums who served the church and the camp in July and August.
Another BIG THANK YOU to the pastors of the HLSC for facilitating the church services for the camp in August.
Also, a BIG THANK YOU to Rosy D'Elia who helped facilitate the service and gave messages on August 2nd.
The first Sunday of every month is Pot Luck Sunday. Please come enjoy the service and bring a dish to share after. Pot Luck in September will be at the Inn. You can drop your food off there before coming to church. Feel free to use the refrigerator.
The Mediumship Development group will begin meeting again on Sunday, September 13th. Time: 1:30 PM. Where: in the Temple. We will continue meeting every Sunday thereafter, weather permitting. Anyone who is interested in developing or growing their mediumship and psychic skills are welcome to join us. And yes, beginners are certainly welcome as are the more advanced folks. Donations are gladly accepted ;-)
The Mid Maine homeless shelter is always in need of many things. If you have items you would like to donate just bring them to church on any Sunday. (PLEASE, no unwashed clothing articles, no clothing with pet hair, and no clothing with holes in them).
Here is a list of supplies they could use:
Diapers - all sizes
Toilet tissues, paper towels, and tissues
All Purpose cleaner
Paper plates, cups, and napkins (square)
HE laundry detergent
Ziploc bags and aluminum foil
Food storage containers
Grocery store gift certificates
Soap, shampoo, and conditioner
Feminine products (pads and tampons)
Toothpaste and toothbrushes
Razors and shaving cream
Coffee (regular; decaf) and creamer
Sugar and drink mixes
Canned and non-perishable foods
Both Etna and Canaan Fire Departments need sweat pants and sweat shirts to give out to people who, during a fire, are forced to flee their homes with no more than the shirt on their backs. It is not necessary to buy new. Clean, used items in good condition are very welcome. Please bring them to the church on any Sunday. Children’s sweats are also needed.
To all who have contributed in the past, or will contribute in the future, to any of the above causes, your gifts are truly a blessing. Thank you.
If you know of anyone who would like to know more about our Healing Light Spiritualist Church and would enjoy reading our newsletter please, by all means, do this pass along.
